French Cycle Sportive Tours - Sports Cycle Break
Lot Cycling Holidays also provides shorter holiday breaks for those looking for more challenging activity during the day. If you are looking for endurance or faster cycling or to further either your cycling or triathlon training then we can put together a 4 or 5 night break geared to your needs.
Sports Cycling Break
A typical break could include the following:
Arrive at our base on Friday evening, enjoy guided, undulating, exciting cycling through beautiful countryside on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, before returning home on Tuesday. Some suggested routes are described at the bottom of this page.
This would be a small group holiday with a maximum of 8 participants. A guide cycles with you at all times so that you don't need to worry about looking at maps or trying to find your own way around, it's all done for you! Substantial breakfasts and fantastic evening meals are provided for this 3 day / 4 night holiday. Accommodation is in either shared twin single bedded or double king-size bedded, ensuite bedrooms and is described in the Your Stay section. It is assumed that you will want to bring your own bike with you, although we do have some road bikes if required - but not all sizes. Contact us for details.
If you are a cycling or triathlon club and you'd like to book as a small group of up to 8 participants, we can arrange a custom made sports cycling tour for you or your club. Contact us with your requirements and we'll give you a quote.

The route starts off mostly flat to warm up but soon becomes undulating with a few steep hills that give you wonderful views across the valleys and beyond. You’ll get a great taste of this unspoilt area of south-west France as we ride through pretty, sleepy villages, alongside the river Dordogne and past the spectacular, historic riverside settlement of La Roque Gageac carved into the rocky hillside.
Perhaps the most popular "small" sportive is the Velotoise.
This held on about the 3rd week of August at Figeac in the east of the Lot. We can customise your tour with us to include this or other sportives for you.

Suggested itinerary;
5 night Sports Cycling Break - includes taking part in an organised cycle sportive event.
This provides a holiday and break for the more active cyclist who is looking for the challenge of completing an organised cyclosportive event. This may be either as an aim in itself or to include as part of a more structured programme of cycling training.
We are offering a 5 night break in August based around our local cyclosport event.
La Vélotoise takes place on the 3rd Sunday of August with a choice of 50, 100 or 130 km circuits around Figeac in the eastern Lot.
Arrive at our base on Friday evening, enjoy relaxed cycling on Saturday, take part in the cyclosportive on Sunday, then enjoy a couple more days of exciting cycling through beautiful countryside to round off your holiday before returning home on Wednesday.
